Whether you're new to CTR or have been around for years, Community Groups are for you. These are smaller, diverse gatherings that meet regularly in homes throughout Greater Portland — eating together, sharing what's going on in each other's lives, and encouraging one another to live on mission in everyday contexts: workplaces, schools, families, neighborhoods, friendships, and beyond.
Community Groups are the primary way we pray for and support one another at CTR. Together we learn to lean in — even when community is messy — and learn to ask one another: Where is Christ calling you to serve him this time tomorrow?

Why Community Groups?
Community Groups exist to help us deeply know, pray for, and grow alongside one another. No matter your age, stage, or point in your faith journey, you'll find a place to belong, be challenged, and grow as a disciple of Jesus.
At CTR, we frequently remind one another that the dream of what community "should be" can blind us to the real people God has called us to love. Community Groups are a messy but beautiful space to learn to love and encourage one another as brothers and sisters in Christ.
Community Group members commit to walking together — not because they picked each other — but because they are united in Christ.
That's what we want for you: a small community nearby who prays for you, shows up for you, and reminds you that you're not walking with Jesus alone. A group of diverse neighbors who become family; the kind who bring a meal when you're sick, celebrate milestones, and ask how they can pray, week after week, imperfectly but consistently.

Who Is Community Group For?
Community Groups are for everyone at CTR; singles, couples, friends, and families, at any age or stage, at any point in your faith journey. We hope every person at Christ the Redeemer finds a home in a group. Whether you're brand new to faith, new to CTR, or have been part of this church for years — there's a place for you here.
What Happens at Community Group?
At a typical Community Group gathering we eat, catch up on each other's lives, and open Scripture together. Then we turn to the ordinary places we spend our week — our workplaces, neighborhoods, schools — and ask honest questions about what it looks like to follow Christ there. We deeply value praying for one another in our joys, stresses, and sorrows. Some groups also venture out into their neighborhoods — serving together on a project or meeting up in the community.
What is the Commitment?
Community Groups meet every other week September–May, but encourage informal meetups or check-ins in the weeks in between. Each group's meeting times and dates are set together in advance. Typically groups meet in one or more "host" member's homes, with organizing, facilitating, and providing food as a team effort. Groups have sufficient flexibility and ownership to customize meetings to their unique needs (location, time, food, childcare), and sufficient structure to ensure everyone knows what to expect.

How Do I Join a Group?
We'd love to get to know you and help identify a nearby group where you can belong. Fill out the form below to get started. A staff member will follow up very soon with a group recommendation, taking your neighborhood and schedule into account.
